The internship year marks the transition from medical student to medical practitioner.

PMCWA provides leadership and support for intern education, training and wellbeing.

Medical graduates are granted provisional registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) for their intern year, before they can become eligible for general registration.

Interns are only permitted to work in positions which have been accredited against standards by an authority approved by the Medical Board of Australia. In Western Australia, this delegated authority is PMCWA.
